POEMS BY RANDY

                The Cross

I had wandered far away from God.
I had drifted far from Him.
My life was wrecked by sin and shame,
Then I saw Christ on the cross.

I saw my life for what it was,
Wretched poor was I that day.
Then through tear-dimmed eyes I saw the Lord
Hanging on the cross for me.

I bowed my head in shame and prayed,
     Lord, please forgive me now
For Christ has shed His blood for me,
When He died upon the cross.

Does your soul cry out to God today
As you see Christ hanging there?
God will hear your prayer, repent today
For Christ died upon the cross.

There Is A Light In My Window Tonight

The house was so noisy
With the work and the play,
Indeed it was busy
Though late in the day.

The sun had long set,
The sky was now black,
To bed we'd soon get,
For sleep we did lack.

With the family in bed
And it late in the night,
I'd soon rest my head,
Just turn off the light.

I paused for a moment,
Just one glimpse to take
At the letter you'd sent,
Oh the joy it did make.

As I started to read,
As I felt a warmth there,
I sensed a real need,
God was calling to prayer.

I slipped from my chair
As the burden grew strong,
I knelt there in prayer,
Not knowing how long.

As I cried out in prayer,
To His throne up above,
Jesus met with me there,
Praise God for His love.

Yes, I mentioned your name,
Though I didn't know the problem,
God heard me the same,
For I knew He would solve them.

Now when it seems for your part,
That no help is in sight,
Rest assured in your heart,
There's a light in my window - TONIGHT!!!

                        POWER!!!

          Flower power, flower power,
          Black power, black power,
          Horse power, horse power,
          Atomic power, atomic power.

          Power power, Power power,
          Everywhere it is power.
          The youth want power,
          The blackman wants power.

          Wherever one looks - power!
          What is it about power?
          Who searches for power?
          Why for desire power?

          Little power, big power,
          World power, please power.
          What's power? Real power?
          Complete power, ultimate power?

          Military power - not power.
          Political power - not power.
          Pleasure's power - not power.
          Atomic power - not power.

          Power? What is power?
          Useful, effective power?
          Lasting, unlimited power?
          Supreme, Power of powers?

          Do I want power?
          Yes, I too desire power.
          But what type of power?
          The Lord of powers.

     Special Pecan Pie

It’s Pecan Pie, as you can see,
But take this advise from me;
Don’t you dare take a bite
With Janet or Aunt Edith in sight!

It really ought to be said
That Charleen’s  face once was red
When those two came for a chat
And at the supper table sat,
For a pie she did not bake,
Not even a chocolate cake.

What happened next you should hear
Before you eat this pie so near.
When the meal was getting late
Randy asked as they ate,
“Did you save your neck for pie?”
“I surely did”, was Janet’s reply.

As her mouth began to swell,
He asked if Pecan would be well.
“That’s my favorite delight”
She said, almost tasting every bite.

Now you know by this time
Why I wrote this little rhyme.
This pie is long over due,
Made especially for those two.

    Bill Kobs

There is a man in Idaho
Whom for several years we’ve come to know.
We’re hoping this card isn’t late
To greet you as you turn Eighty Eight.

Each day we glance at your
    photo on our bedroom wall.
We smile and say “Hello” as
All the fun times we recall.

There are many miles that keep us apart.
But with this birthday card we say,
“Bill, you’ll always stay in our heart.”

Have A Happy Birthday !
